Jewellery Care Tips

Caring for your jewelery to keep it in good condition for as long as possible. There are several care tips that are good to keep in mind that apply to jewelry.
  • Take off your jewelery when showering, bathing, exercising or sleeping.
  • Avoid moisture, water, perfume and skin cream on your silver jewellery.
  • Make sure skin cream and perfume have sunk in properly before wearing your jewelry.
  • Do not wear all jewelry with stones together, so that they do not rub against other materials.
  • Clean your silver jewelry quickly and easily from dirt with a silver polishing cloth.
  • You can also clean your jewelry with warm water and mild detergent, gently dry the silver jewelry with a cotton cloth after cleaning, and use a silver polishing cloth to bring up the shine.
  • Obs! Silver jewelery with gold plating or rhodium plating must not be polished with silver polish as the plating can be damaged and worn away.
  • Store your silver jewelery preferably separately from each other in, for example, soft cloth bags or in airtight packaging, to avoid scratches and discoloration.

Sterling silver

Silver is a noble and durable material, it darkens over time due to a reaction to hydrogen sulphide and oxygen found in, among other things, the air, on the skin, in fabrics, in perfume and in some skin creams.

To be called sterling silver, silver jewelry must contain at least 92.5% silver. All our silver jewelry is stamped with the number 925, which certifies that it is made of sterling silver and is sterling silver jewelry.

Plated with gold or rhodium

All of our jewelry are in 925 sterling silver, and most of them are rhodium-plated or gold-plated, which acts as a protective layer, significantly reducing the risk of the jewellery oxidizing and darkening in color.

Our gold plated silver jewellery is made of 925 sterling silver with a layer of 14 carat gold on the surface which is applied by electrolysis. All of our gold-plated silver jewelry is stamped with the same 925 stamp as our normal sterling silver jewellery. And on product pages they are listed as "golden" in color.

Our rhodium plated silver jewellery is made of 925 sterling silver with a layer of 18 carat rhodium on the surface which is applied by electrolysis. All of our rhodium-plated silver jewellery is stamped with the same 925 stamp as our normal sterling silver jewellery. And on product pages they are listed as "silver" in color.

A rhodium-plated piece of jewelry does not need to be polished to the same extent as sterling silver jewelry to maintain its luster, but you may still need to clean or polish it occasionally.
The gold layer and the rhodium layer can be worn with wear, and the jewelery then becomes brighter, as silver shines through the gold layer.
